"
In our gardens repose the remains of
those that possess beauty without vanity,
strength without insolence, courage without
ferocity, and the virtues of man without his
vices:
our pets."

'though
Your pet has departed,
Your Pet...
...loved you,
...trusted you,
...believed in you,
...had faith in you,
...shared your troubles.
Your pet waited with patience
for your return.
Your pet comforted you with
unspoken compassion.
Your pet sought your help
when in pain.
Your pet knew you would provide.
God Bless Our Pets
They
say memories are golden, well maybe that is
true.
I never wanted memories. I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you, a million times
I cried.
If love alone could have saved you, you never
would have died.
In life I loved you dearly, in death I love
you still.
In my heart you hold a place- no one could
ever fill.
If tears could build a stairway and heartaches
make a lane,
I'd rather walk the path to heaven and bring
you back again.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems
the same,
But as God calls us one by one, the chain
will link again.
A
Cat's Prayer
Treat
me kindly my beloved friend, for no heart
in all the world is more
grateful for kindness than the loving heart
of me.
Do
not break my spirit with kicks and blows for
though I should ignore your cruelty, your
patience and understanding will more quickly
teach
me the things you would have me learn.
Speak
to me often, for your voice is the worlds
sweetest music as you must know by the roar
of my purr when your footsteps fall upon my
waiting ear.
Feed
and water me so that I may stay well to romp
and play and to amuse you with my antics.
It is then that I shall curl up warmly on
your lap and sound my contentment to the world.
And
my friend when I am very old and no longer
enjoy good health, hearing and sight, do not
make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am
not having any fun.
Please
see that my trusting life is taken gently,
I shall leave this earth knowing with the
last breath I draw that my fate was always
safest in your hands.
A
Dog's Prayer
Treat
me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart
in all the world is more grateful for kindness
than the loving heart of me.
Do
not break my spirit with a stick, for though
I should lick your hand
between the blows, your patience and understanding
will more quickly teach me the things you
would have me do.
Speak
to me often, for your voice is the world's
sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce
wagging of my tail when your footstep falls
upon my waiting ear.
When
it is cold and wet, please take me inside....for
I am now a
domesticated animal, no longer use to bitter
elements...And I ask no greater glory than
the privilege of sitting at your feet beside
the hearth...though had you no home, I would
rather follow you through ice and snow than
rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest
home in all the land...Of you are my god...and
I am your devoted worshiper.
Keep
my pan filled fresh water, for although I
should not reproach you were it dry. I cannot
tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean
food, that I may stay well, to romp and play
and do you bidding, to walk by your side,
and stand ready, willing and able to protect
you with my life, should your life be in danger.
And,
beloved master, should the Great Master see
fit to deprive me of my health and sight,
do not turn me away from you. Rather hold
me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant
me the merciful boon of eternal rest...and
I will leave you knowing with the last breath
I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.
